richmondvictoryDespite a rain delay before the feature races on Friday night, the track was quickly dried for an exciting night on the track. The annual Police, Fire, & Ambulance Appreciation Night, sponsored by Stantec, invited emergency services employees to watch the races for free in thanks and recognition for all that they contribute to the community. The Demar Aggregates Trucks feature was won by Brady Smith (#39) of Coldstream and later in the night Stephen Richmond (#24) of Appin won his first-ever FT Garage Late Model feature. The night finished off with a King of the Hill Spectator’s Race.

Stephen Richmond captured the checkered flag in the FT Garage Late Models 50-lap feature. Steve Marche (#95) of London led the first seven laps of the feature, despite two collisions in lap two involving six cars in total and two cautions.  The race was briefly red flagged under the caution after an excess of fuel in the exhaust system caused flames to briefly envelope Justin DeMelo (#82) of London.  While flames shooting from the exhaust are not uncommon with high-powered race cars the size of the fire was momentarily alarming.  Richmond passed Marche in lap eight and was able to hold and build on his the lead until ultimately winning the feature. Doug Stewart (#2) of London finished a season-best second and Mat Box (#27) of Milton finished third. It was Richmond’s first ever Late Model win.

bradywinBrady Smith won the Demar Aggregates Trucks feature after fighting it out with Gary Adriaensen (#55) of Belmont, who is currently the points leader in his division. Joe Windis (#65) led the first eight laps of the feature, but was unfortunately unable to finish the feature due to lost power on the front stretch.  As he lost power contact was made with Gary Adriaensen who spun in turn one. Smith took the opportunity to grab the leading position and was successful in holding it until he saw the checkers. Adriaensen finished second and Tom Zagorodny (#77) of London finished third.

The night concluded with a King of the Hill Spectator’s Race. A variety of trucks, SUVs, sport cars and average street legal cars rolled onto the track to compete against each other in support of Jesse’s Journey. The winner drove a black Eagle Talon. It was his third win of the season.
