Dan Prudhomme (#96) of Thamesford, has been battling on the short tracks of Ontario for over ¼ of a century, and has done so in a number of different classes, while putting up some memorable feature wins.
The one that stands out the most for the 42-year old a Street Stock feature in the mid-90’s on the last day of the season that impacted a championship.
He explained, “We were ready to sit out the last race of the year after we broke a motor the weekend before, but Dave Lawrence would have none of that. He gave us another motor so we could make it out that last week, and we ended up winning the feature. We beat Ray Morneau for the win, and that was enough to give Lawrence the championship over Morneau.”
In 1998 Prudhomme jumped into the Open Wheel Modified division before joining the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup series in 2009. He picked up a pair of feature wins and a top-five in the championship before his latest car, a Late Model, brought him back to Delaware on a weekly basis.
The #96 Racing Team is sponsored by Kellogg’s, Loctite, and Anywhere Print and Design, and while Prudhomme has won features at Delaware in a Modified and Super Stocks, he’ll be looking for number one in the Late Model in 2012, and will be joined by a second car in the stable later this summer.
He said, “We’ve picked up a Super Stock for my son Tyler to run later this year, and I’m really excited about running that with him as well.”
