OSCAAR Outlaws Head to Delaware

August 19, 2012

The Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) provincial touring series has its sights set on this Friday night’s races at Delaware Speedway.  Bringing both their Outlaw Super Late Models and Open-Wheel Modified series to the track, the event is sure to provide the speed, thrills, and excitement the OSCAAR series is famous for.

The Super Late Models have a unique body style and can boast the greatest horsepower of any Ontario stock car division. The unique Outlaw body style features a hood and nose combination which slopes to the ground on a steep angle, rear side panels which are flat and an alternative roof style. There is also allowance in the series for a larger spoiler at the back. Inside the car the chassis is offset to the left or drivers side which allows for better cornering on the oval tracks. The engine department has rules but the bottom line is that these Outlaw cars carry a lot of horsepower. The overall result is plenty of action and excitement on the track.

The Open-Wheel Modified division of OSCAAR is not new to Delaware Speedway, but their updated rules package which includes bigger tires and higher speeds certainly is.  A number of competitors in the series competed in the speedway’s POWERADE Open-Wheel Modified Series before joining up with the OSCAAR program this year to become a provincial touring series.  The track played host to the Open-Wheel mods just a few weeks ago on August 5.  That event was won by Gary McLean (#8) of Conn, narrowly edging out Justin DeMelo (#82) of London for the win in the final laps.

Friday night will also featuring Delaware’s local Demar Aggregates Truck Series.  Gary Adriaensen (#55) of Belmont is the current pace setter in the division, leading the championship point standings with a trio of wins to his credit from early in the season.  Tom Zagorodny (#77) of Dorchester is his closest challenger, but sits thirty points back of the leader.

Come early Friday and take advantage of the toonie hotdog deal until 7:00 pm.  There is also free camping behind the back stretch for the weekend.  Racing will get underway at 8:00 pm.
