June 17, 2011

Friday evening provided some wonderful weather for race fans and exciting racing on the track.

The Dynamic Fluid Product Super Stocks ran their special 28-lap Dave Lawrence Memorial Race on Friday evening.  Much of the race featured a battle between Darrel Lake (#77) of London and James Shields (#7) of London fighting for top position with Lake putting pressure to the high side.  Ultimately Shields would spin, handing the lead to Kenny McNicol Jr. (#17) of Exeter.  A battle ensued with Lake passing  McNicol to win the race.  McNicol Jr finished second, third was Kris Lawrence (#28) of London.

“Dave was a mentor, taught me everything I know about there,” explained Lake in victory lane of the importance of winning the Lawrence Memorial event.  “He was greatest man I have ever known.”

Lake also thanked JR Fitzpatrick for loaning him the car to compete in the event.

Andrew Gresel (#81) of Hepworth won the FT Garage Nascar Late Model race.  Gresel was the class of the field throughout the race, pulling away to nearly a half-track lead over the next closest challenger at times while the field battled hard for position behind him.  Mat Box (#27) of Mississauga finished second, Shawn Thompson (#72) of Ailsa Craig was third.

In Demar Aggregates Truck action Gary Adriaensen (#55) won the event.  The first part of the race proved to be a battle between Shae Gemmell (#3) of Dorchester and Shawn Potvin (#43) of London before Adriaensen asserted himself to the lead of the race.   Gemmell would finish second in the race, Devon Bloemendal (#01) of Mt. Brydges was third.
